Mike Hall Speaks at Tompkins County Naturalization Ceremony
On Wednesday, November 6th, Airport Director Mike Hall helped welcome and congratulate 29 new United States Citizens into Tompkins County. The ceremony took place in the Tompkins County courthouse, which was packed with petitioners, families, friends, and community members.
The ceremony featured music by Johnny Russo and London McDaniels, along with speeches by Tompkins County Legislator Mike Sigler and Mike Hall.
“America is richer for having you come here”, said Sigler, “We can achieve the promise of America with people like yourselves.”
Hall then gave his own words of support and praise to the full courthouse, in addition to sharing his story of being the son of an immigrant in America.
“We thrive on the richness that others bring here,” said Hall, who reminded the room that Tompkins County is one of the most diverse counties in New York State.
The petitioners were asked to take an Oath of Allegiance to the United States, solidifying their legal citizenship. It was a special and emotional day for many.
