Meet the ITH Team – Fritz Hess
A member of the operations and firefighting crew for over ten years, Fritz Hess is responsible for the airport’s routine maintenance. On a typical day, he clears the runway, checks the pavement, inspects the runway lighting, and works with the animal control team. Occasionally, he gives tours to visiting school groups, educational programs, and incoming visitors to the airport.
Before working at the Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport, Fritz worked as an ambulance medic and served as a volunteer firefighter for over twenty years. His previous EMS experience qualifies him to respond immediately to allergic reactions and perform on-site EPI injections if the patient is unable.
In his spare time, Fritz loves to cook and owns his own barbecue restaurant in Cayuga County. He enjoys hiking and fly fishing in Filmore Glen and other natural areas around Cayuga County. Fritz loves living in Ithaca because of its beautiful fall seasons and natural lands.
