American Airlines comes to Ithaca-Tompkins Regional Airport
The long awaited switch in service happened on Saturday, October 16th, when American Airlines completed its merger with US Airways.
Passengers flying out of Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport will notice new signage at the ticket counter, but behind the scene there are profound changes intended to improve service. Like a unified reservations system and a state of the art Operations Center to manage American’s fleet.
Airport Manager Mike Hall looks forward to the new service. Hall noted that throughout the protracted merger of two large airlines there were many internal challenges to be overcome. That is behind them now and Hall expects better operational performance and customer service from the new American Airlines.
“We are excited that the merger is complete and look forward to working with American Airlines to improve service at Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport. Their global connections are in line with the needs of our travelling public and we are optimistic about the future” Hall said.
American will serve their Philadelphia Hub from Ithaca.
